Lesson Overview

In this lesson, we introduce the anatomy of the iliopsoas (the iliacus and the psoas).

Objective

Be familiar with the anatomy and function of the psoas, as well as the wide-ranging impacts of this large muscle.

Description

Explain how the psoas is related — both physically and in common terminology— to the iliopsoas. Describe the psoas muscles, noting where the psoas originates and attaches. Explain what the psoas does and how it’s related to the diaphragm and the Stress Response.
